In the "Battlestar Galactica" series Leah Cairns gives life to the character of Lt. Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson. Longtime Racetrack fan SabaceanBabe honored this part by writing a fanfic about Racetrack and Helo (that the actors read and even tried to use in their character developments) and now by making a Racetrack music video (using the song Nobody Knows by Pink). Watch the cool video and read her story on how it came about!
You can view the music video by clicking on the "PLAY" button below to start.
Song: Nobody Knows, Artist: Pink, Vidder: SabaceanBabe, Focus: Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson
Nobody Knows
Nobody knows
Nobody likes
Baby
It's win or lose not how you play the game
Baby
Tomorrow I'll be there my friend
Nobody knows Me
I'd been wanting to put together a music video for Racetrack for FOREVER and a few weeks ago, I finally realized that she had been in enough scenes of Battlestar Galactica that I might actually be able to pull it off, and without recycling specific shots.
Then came the search for the right song, which honestly didn't take all that long. (Which surprised the frak out of me.) I started going through the songs on my computer, rejecting immediately the ones that I knew were in no way appropriate for dear Maggie. But while I was doing this, listening to snippets in case anything struck me as right, I saw a comment somewhere on one of the message boards, or maybe it was Live Journal, that said Racetrack was a junior Starbuck. Well, I've associated Starbuck with Pink ever since I heard my first song by Pink (Don't Let Me Get Me), so I opened up the folder that contained everything I have by Pink and the fourth song that came up was Nobody Knows.
This song spoke to me of a woman who was interrupted in living her life by something over which she had no control, nor would she ever have control of it. Friends, family, loved ones, favorite possessions, even in some ways her memories were stolen from her through no fault of her own, forcing her into a much smaller, more dangerous world. It made her lonely and it made her push others away to keep herself safe from more losses. It made her bitter, the loss of what might have been, but she's not, I think, an inherently bitter person. Guarded, yes. Prickly, yes. But only because she cares maybe more than she realizes.
Whether Racetrack is a junior Starbuck or not is irrelevant. (For the record, she's not.) That's what got my brain going and this video is the result. I hope you enjoy watching it - I think it's one of my best and is a testament to Leah Cairns' skill in bringing Racetrack to life. (God, I hope this doesn't stray too far from Leah's understanding of Racetrack!) ;) SabaceanBabe |
