Last year I came into contact with NASA astronaut Garrett Reisman through Leah Cairns. He told me this amazing story of him being a huge Battlestar Galactica fan and watching the show in space so he wouldn't miss an episode during his last mission. He even talked to Ron Moore and David Eick from space and in return got invited to visit the set.

On January 17-18, 2009 Leah Cairns' "Battlestar Galactica" costumes and props were auctioned of during "Battlestar Galactica Auction" (presented by Propworx) where bidders could bid live at Pasadena Convention Center as well as online on the Auction Network.

Leah Cairns has joined the roster of stars at Great Friends Greetings, the online customized gift company. Great Friends Greetings’ unique greeting card, containing a message designed and personalized by the customer, appears to the recipient to come directly from Leah Cairns. The card is available at the Great Friends Greetings website.

Several years ago Leah Cairns starred in a commercial for the Canadian White Spot restaurants. The spot is about a woman (Chelah Horsdal) and a man (Peter Benson) who are on a date. She thinks he's Mr. Predictable until he orders something she never expected and on top of that has brought her flowers. Leah Cairns plays the waitress who takes the order.

I asked Leah Cairns to dig up some old headshots for me and I was really amazed by the result. She brought some beautiful black and white images that she made a couple of years ago. I know all fans will enjoy these as much as I did.

Leah Cairns' "Battlestar Galactica" character Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson has her own Minimate. The sixth "Battlestar Galactica" Minimate series, which comes out in March 2009, will contain Prophet Baltar & Captive Six, President Lee Adama & Romo Lampkin, Athena & Hot Dog, plus the limited Racetrack variant.

In September and October 2007 Leah Cairns shot the movie "Helen", directed by Sandra Nettelbeck, starring Ashley Judd and Goran Visnjik. Leah Cairns plays the part of Susanna. The movie has come out in the fall of 2008 and this is the trailer showing Leah Cairns very briefly in a birthday scene.

On April, 18th - 20th Leah Cairns was one of the "Battlestar Galactica" related guests at FedCon XVII in Bonn, Germany. FedCon is the biggest European convention and was attended by more than 5,000 people during the course of the weekend. Leah Cairns was accompanied by fellow "Battlestar Galactica" actors Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, Nicki Clyne and Michelle Forbes and Steve Bacic.

On April 16th, 2008, Leah Cairns and her fellow cast members on "88 Minutes" (Al Pacino, Alicia Witt, Amy Brenneman, Leelee Sobieski and many others) attended the official Movie Premiere at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Leah Cairns' husband Kevin Hawryluk accompanied her the red carpet event. The press covered the new Al Pacino movie extensively and Leah also posed for pictures and did a couple of interviews. 

David Eick's Video Blogs are funny, little backstage movies shot by executive producer David Eick on the  "Battlestar Galactica" series set. In the episodes "Why Hath David Forsaken Us?" and "What Next What Now?" Leah Cairns (aka Racetrack) also has a short appearance as one of the cast members interviewed backstage on the set.

In the "Battlestar Galactica" series Leah Cairns gives life to the character of Lt. Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson. Longtime Racetrack fan SabaceanBabe honored this part by writing a fanfic about Racetrack and Helo (that the actors read and even tried to use in their character developments) and now by making a Racetrack music video (using the song Nobody Knows by Pink). Watch the cool video and read her story on how it came about!

On March 7-9, 2008, Leah Cairns was a guest at the MegaCon convention that was held in Orlando, Florida (USA). This is a brief report of that convention along with some stories of Leah Cairns meeting up with the fans and some photos of Leah Cairns that were taken at that event.

In the Battlestar-Blog interview Leah Cairns recalled her worst acting experience to be starring in a Canadian beer commercial for Moosehead. The main reason why she hated it, was because it appeared to be shot in summer, but in fact it was wintertime when they were running around naked through the forest and jumping into the lake.

On March 5, 2008, Leah Cairns replied questions send in by the members of the Battlestar-Blog. It became a long and interesting interview in which she discussed Racetrack on "Battlestar Galactica" and Emily Hollander on "Kyle XY". She also gave insight on some of her personal favorites and her future plans.

I only recently discovered this interview which was taped for The SciFi Guys radio show at the Galactica Three Convention, held last year August in London, UK. They also included a (way too short) compilation of the fantastic improv at this convention.

On February 28th, 2008 BSG.CZ interviewed Leah Cairns about her parts on "Battlestar Galactica", "Kyle XY" and "Sanctuary". She also discusses how she feels when she's recognized on the street, her trip to Prague and she declines a marriage proposal from one of their readers (sadly, three years too late).

In February 2003 Leah Cairns starred in the music video "Taking My Life Away" of the Canadian band Default. Default later won a SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers of Canada) Number One Award with the song.

On January 12, 2007, Leah Cairns was interviewed by GALACTICA.TV and only recently this was published on their website. She talks extensively about her life, her travels, her part on "Battlestar Galactica" and many other series and movies.

At the Galactica Three convention held August 10-12, 2007 in London (UK), Leah Cairns was invited to become a Jedi Master Chef. Leah showed some great poses and even copied one of Paul Campbell.

Leah Cairns was interviewed by Shaun O'Mac for his web radioshow "Subject 2 Discussion" several times already. She talks for almost a full hour about her work and her life and answers questions from fans calling in and in the chatroom.
